Process & background

Amine treating units (gas sweetening) circulate a lean amine solution — most often MDEA, MEA or DEA — to absorb H₂S and CO₂ from sour gas. Over time the circulating amine picks up hydrocarbons, iron sulphide, degradation products and fine particulate that cause foaming, corrosion and heat-exchanger fouling.

A full-flow or side-stream particulate filter on the lean/rich amine loop removes this debris before it accumulates. High-flow elements are ideal here because amine circulation rates are large and a single 40" or 60" element replaces many standard cartridges, reducing change-out exposure to hot amine.
