Technical Knowledge

Fundamentals of high-flow filtration — materials, pressure drop, housing compatibility, and more.

Filter Media Types

Polypropylene (PP), glass fiber (GF), and PES membrane — properties, applications, and selection criteria for high-flow filter elements.

  • Polypropylene: broad chemical compatibility, 1–100 µm, nominal filtration
  • Glass Fiber: higher efficiency, absolute-rated, ideal for condensate polishing
  • PES Membrane: sterilizing grade, pharma applications, FDA compliant

Differential Pressure & Flow Performance

Understanding pressure drop across high-flow filter elements. How element length, micron rating, and media type affect system performance.

  • Typical clean ΔP: 0.05–0.15 bar at rated flow
  • Change-out threshold: 1.5–2.5 bar depending on application
  • 40" elements process up to 110 m³/h per element

Housing Compatibility Guide

R+F replacement filter elements are designed to fit directly into OEM housings. Key dimensions, end cap geometry, and O-ring specifications.

  • Standard 6" OD (152 mm) for Pall, Parker, 3M HF, Pentair
  • 6.5" OD (165 mm) for 3M 740B/K series — NOT interchangeable
  • 226/flat O-ring interface standard across most brands
