Definition
The filtration of amine solutions (such as MDEA) used in gas sweetening to remove acid gases like H₂S and CO₂.
Amine systems accumulate hydrocarbons, iron sulfide and degradation products that foul equipment and cause foaming. High-flow mechanical filtration of the lean and rich amine streams removes particulate to keep the system clean.
Absolute-rated glass-fiber high-flow elements are typically specified for amine particulate filtration, often ahead of activated-carbon beds.
