Equipment & Pump Protection
Pumps, nozzles, spray bars, heat exchangers and instrumentation all fail early when abrasive or plugging particulate reaches them. A high-flow prefilter is a cost-effective guard barrier — a small filtration investment that protects expensive downstream equipment.
Where in the process
Immediately upstream of the equipment being protected. It is a guard/prefiltration barrier targeting particulate that would abrade, plug or foul the downstream asset.
What goes wrong without adequate filtration
- Abrasive particulate that wears pumps, seals and impellers early
- Plugging of nozzles, spray bars and narrow exchanger channels
- Fouled instrumentation that gives false readings and trips
- Unplanned downtime and repair cost on high-value equipment
How it works
- 1
Sit ahead of the asset
The guard filter is placed immediately upstream of the pump, nozzle, exchanger or instrument being protected.
- 2
Match rating to clearance
The rating is set by the smallest downstream clearance — the nozzle orifice, exchanger channel or pump tolerance you must protect.
- 3
Remove particulate at low ΔP
A correctly sized high-flow element removes abrasive / plugging particulate while keeping pressure drop low so the asset keeps its duty.
- 4
Guard with rare service
High dirt-holding means the guard rarely needs attention — a small filtration cost protecting expensive equipment.
Typical filtration requirements
- Reliable particulate removal ahead of sensitive equipment
- Low pressure drop so the protected pump/line keeps its duty
- High dirt-holding so the guard rarely needs service
- Rating matched to the clearance of the protected component
Why high-flow wins here
Selection & sizing factors
Sizing & selection
Guard-filter rating is set by the smallest clearance you must protect (nozzle orifice, exchanger channel, pump tolerance). We match the rating to that clearance and the flow, and can supply the housing. Tell us what you are protecting.
The right housing for this solution
A guard-filter housing is usually a retrofit right in front of the protected asset, so it is configured to fit the available space and connections. We size the housing to the line flow, keep the housing count low, and supply the matching high-flow element rated to the clearance you protect. Use the housing configurator to specify a guard vessel or skid.

How do I choose the guard rating?
Base it on the smallest clearance downstream — the nozzle, tolerance or channel you must protect. Send us the component and flow and we recommend a rating.
Will a prefilter add too much pressure drop?
A correctly sized high-flow element keeps pressure drop low and stable, so it protects the equipment without starving it. We size for your duty.
Which equipment benefits most from a guard filter?
Pumps, nozzles, spray bars, heat exchangers and instrumentation — anything with a tight clearance that abrasive or plugging particulate would damage.
Can you supply the housing for a retrofit?
Yes — we size a configurable housing to fit ahead of the protected asset and supply the matching element. Use the housing configurator to start.
The right solution for your process?
Tell us your flow rate, medium and target rating — we recommend the element and, if required, the matching housing.
