Polypropylene (PP) Filter Media

Definition

A thermoplastic filter medium prized for broad chemical compatibility, low cost and freedom from binders or additives.

Polypropylene is the most widely used high-flow media because it resists most acids, bases and aqueous solutions and contains no adhesives or surfactants that could leach into the fluid. It suits temperatures up to roughly 80 °C.

PP is available as meltblown depth media or pleated media across 1–100 µm, offering nominal to fine filtration for water treatment, chemicals and general process liquids.

Relevance for high-flow filtration

R+F offers PP high-flow elements as a direct replacement for OEM polypropylene cartridges, with FDA-compliant grades available.
