Dirt-Holding Capacity
Definition
The total mass of contaminant a filter element can retain before reaching its change-out differential pressure.
Dirt-holding capacity (measured in grams) determines service life: the higher the capacity at a given micron rating and flow, the longer the interval between change-outs. Depth media and high pleat area both increase it.
Selecting an element with ample dirt-holding capacity reduces labor, downtime and disposal costs across the life of the system.
